Neck Lift

As we age, different areas of the face and neck are affected differently. Some people develop wrinkling and sun damage in their entire face and neck. Some people seem to lose facial fat, while others accumulate fat in the neck and maintain good skin tone. Others may develop more exaggerated signs of aging in their neck. Neck lift rejuvenation surgery can provide dramatic results by restoring elegance to the face, especially when combined with other rejuvenating procedures.

¬†A neck lift is designed to reduce the loose look of sagging skin in the neck area and under the jaw line. This is achieved by tightening the muscle within the neck (called platysma) in the midline and sideways traction to create a ‘sling’ which elevates the soft tissues below the jawline. Some patients who complain of having a fleshy neck, jowls, neck banding, or a ‘turkey waddle’ can benefit from this procedure. Many times patients choose to have a neck lift with their facelift procedure.

Submental (below the front jawline) liposuction techniques, utilising fat extraction sculpturing of the neck, gives the patient a more youthful look. It produces a patient profile that is more elegant and refined (neck appears longer). In some cases with submental liposuction sculpturing, necessity for chin augmentation is critical to tauten the submental skin and to give a better neck-chin angle. Insertion of solid chin implants can provide an excellent result by enhancing the skeletal element of the jaw.
