What to Expect
Before the Procedure:
During your consultation, Dr. Tim’s team will assess your skin concerns and create a personalised treatment plan. For 48 hours before the procedure, avoid retinoids, exfoliants, and harsh skincare products.
During the Procedure:
The skin is thoroughly cleansed, and a topical numbing cream is applied to minimise discomfort. Then, a microneedling device is passed over the treatment area, creating microchannels in the skin. Depending on your goals, serums or PRP may be applied during or after the procedure to enhance the effects.
After the Procedure:
Your skin may appear red and warm, similar to a mild sunburn. These effects are temporary and typically subside within 24–48 hours.
Risks
Skin needling is generally safe when performed by experienced professionals, but potential risks include:
- Redness and swelling (temporary).
- Minor pinpoint bleeding.
- Skin irritation or sensitivity.
- Infection (rare, with proper aftercare).
- Hyperpigmentation or scarring (extremely rare and more likely in darker skin tones without proper precautions).
Recovery Tips
- Protect Your Skin: Apply sunscreen daily and avoid direct sun exposure for at least a week.
- Avoid Harsh Products: Refrain from using retinoids, exfoliants, or products with active ingredients for 3–5 days.
- Hydrate: Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser to soothe and support the healing process.
- Avoid Makeup: Skip makeup for at least 24 hours to allow your skin to heal uninterrupted.
- Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water supports skin regeneration.
- Schedule Follow-Up Sessions: Depending on your skin concerns, treatments are typically repeated every 4–6 weeks for best results.
