Upper Lip Lift Surgery in Sydney
Technical Explanation of the Procedure
An upper lip lift in Sydney is a surgical procedure designed to improve the upper lip’s proportion by shortening the distance between the base of the nose and the upper lip (the philtrum). Over time, or due to natural anatomy, this area can lengthen. As a result, the upper lip may appear thinner and less defined. For suitable patients, an upper lip lift can increase visible upper lip height and improve facial balance.
A/Prof Tim Papadopoulos (FRACS) tailors upper lip lift surgery to your anatomy and aesthetic goals. During a consultation, Dr. Tim assesses lip shape, philtrum length, nasal base anatomy, and symmetry. He then discusses scar placement, healing, risks and realistic outcomes as part of informed consent.
Subnasal “Bullhorn” Upper Lip Lift Technique
The most common approach is the subnasal bullhorn lip lift.
During surgery, Dr Tim:
-
removes a small strip of skin just beneath the nose
-
designs the incision to sit within the natural curves of the nasal base
-
carefully lifts and secures the upper lip into a more elevated position
This technique can create improved upper lip definition. In addition, it may increase the amount of visible upper teeth when smiling (tooth show), depending on individual anatomy.
